STRIPTILL strip cultivator
The strips prepared by the STRIPTILL strip-tillers help to absorb precipitation quickly and also retain soil moisture better.
The strips created provide a constantly ideal environment for plant growth.
Cultivated soil strips will warm up faster and have better air and water balance.

How does strip tilling work?
Strip-Till is a strip tillage system where only the strip required for sowing is loosened, cultivated to the depth of the root zone, concurrently with fertiliser application. In the case of working on ploughed or unploughed stubble, the stalk residues must be cut through and arranged between the rows to be cultivated, the soil needs to be loosened to a depth of 28-30 cm, while liquid or solid nutrients need to be applied in the cultivated strip below the surface, and then the loosened soil should be broken up to remove the clods, with clod breaking and sealing to create near seedbed quality strips.
Meanwhile, the row distances can rest and regenerate without being interfered with.
Efficiency in action
The NorAn Strip-Till meets all these requirements in a single operation.
The strips prepared using the Strip-Till help to absorb rainfall quickly and retain soil moisture.
Plant residues remain on the surface of the area between the rows, preventing excessive cooling and heating. The loose seedbed, having an excellent soil structure, results in a secure, homogeneous germination and uniform plant growth.
The row-by-row paralelogram suspension and depth delimitation ensure precise fertiliser placement on up to two levels simultaneously, facilitating efficient fertiliser utilisation.
The established strips ensure an ideal soil environment for plant development throughout the growing season.
The equipment loosens the compacted layers in the root zone, restoring the soil structure and creating the conditions for unhindered root development.
The loosened soil interacts with the undisturbed row spaces, so that the exchange of useful substances also takes place from there, and the part saturated with undisturbed microorganisms increases soil fertility.
Great benefits
The advantages of strip-tillage are: faster warming and aeration of the worked soil strips, reduced erosion, better water absorption compared to direct seeding and targeted application of granular or organic fertiliser to the worked strips.
Between the rows, plant residues cover the uncultivated field strips.
Plant residues reduce the evaporation of soil moisture and inhibit the spreading of weeds.
In addition to the agronomic benefits, there are also significant economic benefits from the strip-tillage system.
Since only 30-40% of the total area is cultivated, you can achieve significant fuel savings and higher yields thanks to the targeted application of fertiliser.
Complete “cabin control”
The NorAn Strip-Till is designed using the latest technologies.
Because the crop areas are very heterogeneous – even within a single field -, it was important to be able to make a large part of the adjustments easily from the tractor driver’s seat.
In the most important places, such as the paralelogram suspension of the strip-tilling section (1), the strip cleaner (2) and the sealing unit (3), pneumatic air springs provide the necessary downforce, the pressure of which can be easily varied by means of buttons.
Fertiliser dosage control, whether solid or liquid, is also controlled from the tractor cabin using an advanced tablet.
Versatile for all conditions
The strip tiller sections are attached to the frame by U bolts, which can be easily adjusted to suit the needs of different plants.
The NorAn Strip-Till is suitable for strip-tillage of maize, soybean, sunflower or rape.
The row distance of each cultivation unit can be easily adjusted between 45-50-55 and 76 centimetres, so the machine can be adapted to the row spacing of the crop.
Pre-cutting disc and depth stop
The front cutting discs, which can be adjusted to several working depths, open up the soil and ensure the cutting of long stalk residues, which are removed by the row-cleaning discs.
Depth delimiter wheels, located next to the cutting discs, ensure precise depth retention of the strip tiller equipment.
Row-cleaning discs
The strips to be cultivated must be cleaned of large amounts of stalk residue, which is provided by the sharktooth row cleaning discs.
The row-cleaning unit is mounted on a parallelogram suspension, with pneumatic air springs to ensure the appropriate ground pressure.
Turning off the air pressure automatically removes the cleaning discs from the ground.
Suitably loose seedbed
Straight profiled blade handles ensure that the soil is loosened.
Both the blade tips and the blade handles are made of HARDOX and are of course interchangeable.
If you want to make the loosened strip wider, you can mount wings on the blade handles.
Side guide pulleys
When tilling strips, it is important that only the rows are cultivated and the row spacing is left intact.
The soil, moved by the blades, is held in place by 470 mm diameter corrugated discs.
The distance of the discs to the blade can be adjusted „backwards and forwards”, and can also be moved sideways by means of gap plates to change the width of the strip.
You can also change the angle of the discs to make your strip balk-like.
Fertiliser application
It is also possible to apply fertiliser in the wake of the blades at the same time as working the soil.
This can done using solid (granular) or liquid form.
The depth of fertiliser application can be easily adjusted using screws.
Optimum at all times
The sealing unit is easily replaceable, by removing a single pin.
This allows us to quickly adjust our strip tiller to the current soil conditions and the expected cultivation results.
The following sealing units are available:
- Sealing unit with locks:
This unit is composed of 4 corrugated discs with a diameter of 470 mm, offset from each other.
We recommend it mainly for autumn planting, because it features perfect clod-breaking properties, while not compressing the soil too much. - Sealing unit with “chicken foot” design:
The most universal sealing unit, because it can be used for both autumn and spring operations. - Sealing unit with chain:
In this unit, the main cultivation elements are large cross-section mesh chains welded between two sheets.
Due to the continuous movement of the slack chain, it has a very good self-cleaning ability and can therefore be used for a long time in wet conditions. - Sealing unit with rods:
The design of the clod-breaking roller with oblique rods is very similar to the sealing units found on combiners.
It is therefore recommended for looser soils and drier conditions.

Strip tillage should be timed in a similar way to base tillage.
On more compacted soils, it is best to choose autumn-late autumn dates and to establish the strips with a looser balk structure to allow for setting during the winter; spring strip tillage should be chosen only on lighter looser soils, but in that case a denser strip should be created so that the seed is surrounded by compact soil when sown, rather than in an airy medium.
The answer to this question is strongly influenced by the winter weather.
If there is little rainfall over the winter and the wildlife has not compacted the strips, a total weedkiller in spring may be sufficient before sowing.
In case the rainfall has severely compacted the strips, the choice of instrument depends on the extent of the problem.
The instrument of choice could be a strip refresher, a spoke hoe, a short disc or even a shallow cultivator.
The working sections of NorAn’s Striptill strip tiller are secured to the frame structure by U bolts.
By loosening or unfastening these, the trolleys can be slid sideways on the frame and then reattached to the desired row spacing.
All NorAn machines are designed with long life, quality materials and user-friendly operation as the primary considerations.
This was no different when designing the Striptill strip tiller.
Continental air springs, developed for the suspension of vans, have been installed, so they are particularly heavy-duty and durable.
These air springs make it quick and easy to adjust the strip tiller, because the desired pressure for the tiller units can be set by pushing a button in the tractor driver’s cabin.
