X-Press System weight compensation system
The NorAn X-Press CT roller is equipped with a special X-Press System weight compensation system. It was designed by placing a spring in a case in the middle frame, and the working roller’s feet responsible for opening the roller connect to this preloaded spring.
In the working position, these springs are used to transfer weight from the heavier central section – which is heavier due to the wheel structure and traction mechanism – to the outer cylinder sections for a completely even weight distribution. So you can be sure that you will get perfect shredding everywhere within the working width.
Flexible frame structure
[1] In designing the frame structure of the X-Press CT, great care was taken to ensure that the roller tracks the terrain as perfectly as possible. This was achieved by suspending the wing sections at the central hinge point, and further enhanced by the fact that the working rollers are not fixed to the central frame but connected to the X-Press system. This allowed us to further increase the wing sections’ freedom of movement.
The extreme position shown in the picture is easily taken by the X-Press CT frame structure, unlike the structure of rollers made by competitors, which are shown in red. It is clearly seen that the central section of the „pusher” cylinderless roller structures press the ground more than the rollers on the wing. In the other case, where the opening is provided by a work roller and the ends of the work roller are attached to the wing section, the structure follows the terrain better, but due to the hinges on the wing edges, it is able to track the terrain to a limited extent, and in extreme cases, shredding can be very heterogeneous in the working width. So, it is definitely worthwhile to choose the frame structure of your future roller carefully.

Thanks to the suspension of the side members through the central hinge point, the X-PRESS SYSTEM allows the roller to follow the ground surface perfectly even in the roughest rough terrain.
This way, NorAn rollers provide uniform recompression over the entire working width, making rolling usable over a wider range.
Easy folding and transport
Forget about the difficulties caused by the reversing design.
Hydraulic work cylinders make moving the roller from the work position to the transport position a snap.
The central work cylinder tilts the rollers into the transport position and at the same time the wheels move all the roller sections away from the ground.
This is also very useful in the event of a mud patch.
And the wings can be folded with the help of a working cylinder for each wing, so the transport width is less than 2.5 m.
CrossBoard - for a perfectly smooth surface
Two operations in one go. All NorAn X-Press rollers can be equipped with the CrossBoard smoothing line. It can also be used to carry out smoothing in parallel with rolling. The intense vibrating motion of CrossBoard springs allows for much more efficient clumping.
On the move, the angle of the smoothing blades can be adjusted to suit the current ground conditions from the driver’s cabin on the tractor.
The three separate smoothing lines move in perfect synchronisation thanks to the Master&Slave function, so you can be sure that the same working depth is achieved throughout the entire working width.
Rigid or separate moving smoothing plates
The individual spring sections of the compacting rollers are individually suspended, but if a rigid smoothing plate is required, the plates can be connected by a cross-locking system.
The individual hoes avoid leaving larger clods and further deepening surface irregularities by locking the smoothing springs together.
In this way, the smoothing and clumping effect can be significantly increased.
Each spring member is connected only to the adjacent member, so it still has the flexibility to follow the ground surface while smoothing larger clods.
Cracking no longer a problem
The NorAn X-Press rollers CrossBoard smoother can be equipped with curved 150 mm wide straight profile smoothers.
Under these general conditions, a very nice even surface can be achieved, leaving the deeper layers of soil intact and levelling the surface.
On soils prone to cracking, the double-bladed blade type is a good choice.
Roller compactors are the preferred choice for seedbed preparation, as they help to create a compacted and closed seedbed with a favourable agronomic structure.
The double-bladed breaker blade pulverises larger clumps and clods and also provides a continuous soil flow for the CrossBoard’s smoothing blades, which improves the conditions for favourable soil structure.
By installing a double blade smoother, a greater working depth can be achieved, so that the compacting and levelling effect of the roller is also applied in deeper layers.
This plays a role in restoring the capillary system of the soil after cultivation and thus ensures uninterrupted water uptake by the plants.
